Threaded Hydrant Connection

Hello friends! I’d like to talk about something important today, but that’s threaded hydrant connections. Have you seen those big, red hydrants on the street that firefighters use to put out fires? Fire hydrant hose are not only critical for the proper operation of those hydrants.

Threaded hydrant connections are essentially lock-and-key puzzle pieces that allow water to flow from a fire hydrant and into the hoses that firefighters use to battle fires. These extensions are treaded, which are tiny ridges which enable them to screw in place firmly. The second is critical, because without closing the connections, water will leak out and the firefighters will be unable to put out the fire.

The Importance of Properly Securing Threaded Hydrant Connections

And again, it’s particularly important to make sure that a threaded hydrant connection is tight. If they’re slack, water could spray everywhere except at the target. It may result in wasted water and the firefighters being prevented from doing their job. That’s why firefighters and other workers are periodically testing them to confirm they are secure and work for that one-off emergency.
